I’m guessing that’s one way glass (barely less creepy) rendered inoperative by the “morning” light.

I agree, either that or it must have some way of becoming opaque, otherwise, why have the glass at all?

I stayed in a hotel once where the shower had a glass wall which faced into the rest of the room; a flick of a switch rendered it opaque.

That's what you say. The ESG switch actually turns the room camera on. The hotel then records the vid as a PtP feature for the guests.
