My Social Security Number Has Been Suspended

I received a message on my voicemail that said my SSN has been suspended for suspected illegal activities and that I need to contact my allotted paralegal at 240-342-4640 or they will freeze my assets or be forfeited.
I'm worried. Are there any paralegals here that can advise me on what to do before I call my allotted one? Is there a way to keep my assets thawed?

Thanks, RayThom! I was just about to call my allotted paralegal when I came across your post.
I have a question, though. What if the website you linked is actually a scam to get people not to take the phone call seriously so they can freeze your assets and forfeited them before you take action?

NOMOROBO, the phone number fact checker (much like Snopes) has been around for years and is quite reputable.

Props to the scammers for at least setting up their rip-off with a believable phone number —
North American area codes 240 and 301 are telephone area codes for the western half of Maryland. They serve Maryland's portion of the Greater Washington, D.C., metro area, portions of southern Maryland, and the more rural areas in the western portion of the state.

Dude, that’s nothing! I got the following transcribed voicemail the other day:
Hey this is Officer Catherine Richardson _ number 002569 from the federal Bureau of investigation this message has been sent to you as a final notification against your case with the Department of tax any crime investigation right now your physical address is under investigation and then arrest warrant has been issued under your name for further ______ and resolving this case contact of the loan number of the tax and crime investigation department 206-462-5286 I repeat 206-462-5286 thank you...

Once your social security number gets suspended, the IRS won't be able to keep track of you any more...

I'd buy something nice so you can look good in the papers when you are arrested. I asked the scammer who called me a while back if he could wait a few minutes to allow me to put my good suit on, as I want to look good on the front page (he didn't find it amusing, he was "only trying to help you, sir"..
