Just in an idle moment I picked up my copy of "A walk in the woods", by Bill Bryson. I happened on a bit about how Tennessee was trying to introduce a law, forbidding the teaching of evolution in school, which is hysterically funny in itself, and the following quote tickled me;
"And now the state was about to bring the law back, proving conclusively that the danger for Tennesseans isn't so much that they may be descended from apes as that they may be overtaken by them.."
Anyone here from Tennessee?
Anyone here from Tennessee?
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”
Re: Anyone here from Tennessee?
I don’t think you’re going to get any volunteers.
Re: Anyone here from Tennessee?
I'm afraid your double meaning is lost on Gob.
Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

I nearly died laughing frequently throughout the reading of that book. The movie they made did not live up to it as is the usual.Gob wrote: ↑Sat Jul 25, 2020 3:25 pmJust in an idle moment I picked up my copy of "A walk in the woods", by Bill Bryson.
