Michener was known for exciting stories. I'll never get back those many hours trudging through Iberia (if only it could have been the real thing).

Hmmmm . . . . Jimbo Michener and 1250 blockbuster pages. Do you suppose he's related to James Michener who usually managed to string out a story to many many more pages than it was worth? I suspect he was paid by the word, like Franklin W. Dixon.

I see that LR had the same thought. And I just realized (duh!) that Jimbo = James. Now that I think about it, I remember when Jimmy Connors first came onto the scene and his mother (Gloria IIRC) kept yelling "C'mon Jimbo!" at the top of her lungs which upset the worthies at Wimbledon.
