One moment he thought he was just an anonymous punter in a backstreet brothel.
The next he's in the nude hanging off a drainpipe after police burst into the brothel he was using in eastern China. As the doors were smashed down the customer, leaving his clothes behind, ran on to the roof of the rundown apartment bloc in Changchun, Jilin province.

They've identified him...
Canada’s lacklustre federal election campaign has finally ignited after claims the man many tip to be the country’s next prime minister was found naked by police in a suspected illegal brothel.
Jack Layton, the leader of the New Democratic Party (NDP), was discovered lying on a bed in a room with a 5ft 10in Asian woman in her mid-20s during a police search for underage prostitutes in 1996.
The married Layton, who was a Toronto city councillor at the time, was cautioned and released without charge, a retired Asian crime unit officer told the Sun News Network.
Olivia Chow, Mr Layton's wife and a New Democratic Party MP seeking re-election in Toronto, issued a statement saying Mr Layton told her about the incident at the time it happened.
‘No one was more surprised than my husband when the police informed him of allegations of potential wrongdoing at this establishment,’ Mrs Chow said. ‘Any insinuation of wrongdoing on the part of my husband is completely and utterly false.’

Actually that story was a smear job on the eve of an election where the NDP is poised to make historic gains. Conservative operatives tried the same thing with a grainy photograph of someone whom they claimed was Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff acting as some sort of consultant to U.S. forces in Iraq (it wasn't him).

That I know, but I didn't want anyone who hasn't been following Canadian news closely to be taken in by it.

Fair comment, worth a thread?

I may start a thread on the elections after the results come out tomorrow night (our time), depending on how much they delight, depress or infuriate me. If I do I will certainly include something about the level of sleaze that has run rampant in this campaign (virtually all one sided) which surpasses anything I can remember.
