It's a patch of scruffy grass barely big enough to sit down on – but that hasn’t stopped one town hall making a great deal of fuss about it.
The verge measures only 3ft by 2ft but has its own ‘Keep Off The Grass’ sign. The warning has appeared as officials plan £70million of cuts.

It looks like its the last patch of green space on that entire street. Is it a crime to want to try to preserve it?

So has the BBC;
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-14242250
A council has admitted that a Keep off the Grass sign located on a tiny verge in south-west London "doesn't make any sense" and is "out of date". The notice is in front of a house on Elm Row, Raynes Park, on a patch of grass which is less than a square ...
The Evening Standard;

This "Keep Off The Grass" warning sign is protecting possibly the tiniest strip of turf in London.
It was installed by council workmen to stop drivers ruining a patch no bigger than two feet by three feet.
Today Merton council defended its decision to keep the sign, saying it was there to deter rogue parking.
The Metro;
Edited to remove statements giving Lo what she wishes for.

Personally I would love to see the council work man assigned to keep the grass to a uniform length go about his job on that patch of dirt.
He will be ruing the inclusion of the sign as it will make it that much more difficult to mow it.

Too bad a senior citizen doesn't live there. He would live to come out and yell "Keep off my lawn!"

It isn't even lawn. It's weeds. Paving it would make much more sense.

It should be easy to keep off the grass since there doesn't appear to be any growing there.

Is grass that hard to grow there? It's not like it's an endangered species on the plant...
