A wedding went with a hop, skip and a jump when the couple's pet baby kangaroo attended the ceremony as a bridesmaid.

Gilly Richardson and John Hughes were married in front of 80 guests on their sprawling family farm.

But it was not just the loved up couple jumping for joy during the ceremony, held in March.

The bride and groom adopted Zoe after finding her on a dirt track next to her dead mother on Black Saturday, close to their property in rural Deans Marsh, Victoria, Australia.

The Black Saturday bushfires on February 7 last year resulted in Australia's highest ever loss of life from a bushfire - 173 people died and 414 were injured.

I've heard of a number of them being adopted following accidents where the mother has been killed leaving a joey, but there is no domestic pet market for them.

They need a lot of space, they are very wide ranging in their territory.

They can be trained, but they are pretty stupid animals.

Hen may know more..

I saw a roo in a small traveling circus a few years back. It was trained to box and welcomed all comers. They had a muzzle on to box but after they took it off and permitted anyone who wanted to approach and pet the animal. It was a red one and about 5'3or4 inches tall. They also had an elephant. We got rides on the elephant which was fun for both me and the kids.(I am still a kid at heart ;) ) :ok

Gob is spot on.

I wouldn't want to domesticate one. I'd prefer to have a property that wild ones used. That is the beauty of living with nature, doing it on nature's terms.

Also, they can disembowel you it they want. Possibly not the smaller females, but DEFINITELY that Red you saw 'boxing' Miles.
