That was a humpback; probably would have gagged on a surfer and spit him back out. They only eat little stuff. Now an orca ...

Orca attacks on humans in the wild are extremely rare (there have been many more among whales in captivity). Still, if I had been the surfer that fact would not have prevented me from dirtying my shorts.

I dunno, in perspective the whale looks closer to the camera, than to the surfer.
The whale is even closer to the inflatable boat than the girl(she coasts behind it).
She wasn't in any danger, and she knows it; she's fairly calm in the closing shot.
