A man from Darwen in Lancashire is spending two days in a wheelie bin for Children in Need.

Ted Mountain from Olive Lane said he would spend the time "propped up by the side of the bar" in a pub in the town centre.

He will start the challenge at 17:00 GMT, attend the Christmas lights switch-on in the town on Saturday night and climb out on Sunday night.

"I just thought about doing something different," he said.

"I don't think anyone's ever done it before."

The bin, complete with padding in the bottom, and a duvet for comfort, has been painted yellow with coloured spots.

"The locals just think I'm mad," said Mr Mountain. "Mind you, I think I'm quite mad myself, but I just want to raise as much money as I can."

He will be allowed out for five minutes every hour for a leg stretch and comfort break.

"I think to top this next year, I might have to do a sponsored trip to Blackpool with someone pulling me in a wheelie bin," he said.

DVT candidate at his age.

Oh, and I like his plan to get accolades and money for charity whilst one of his poor bloody friends gets to pull him in a wheelie bin to Blackpool.
