Council spends £21,000 on leaflets asking residents 'How can we save money?'

As a starting point they perhaps should have analysed the printer's invoice a bit more closely.
A council has spent almost £21,000 on leaflets asking taxpayers for ideas on how it can save money.
Sheffield Council will send out 230,000 forms asking for ways on how to cut £57m from the 2012-13 budget.
Leader of the Labour-run council, Julie Dore, said each leaflet had cost 9p to produce, which was 'value for money'.

You could print the form yourself and photocopy it.
You could include it in a postage to residents with their rates notices.
That would reduce the costs to approximately 2p a leaflet and take away the postage charges entirely.

I've just done a little calculation. With doing the pamphlet in house it and including it on a council post-out that was already occuring it would have only cost £4,600. That would have saved the council £16,400.
That would have been a help, surely?

You should mail them and let them know!
They should offer a prize for the best suggestion.
