A county sheriff was patrolling late one Saturday evening, driving along a winding 2-lane. As he passed a pickup pulled over on the other side of the road, he saw the driver, an older man (maybe 65) dressed like a farmer, climbing out, frantically gesturing as he shouted, "Hey, look out, pig, stop! Pig, pig! Hey, stop, pig, pig! Stop, stop, pig!" As the sheriff passes him, he wonders, What the hell was THAT all about? I'd better make sure that good ol' boy doesn't try to drive himself home until he sobers up. He checks a milepost, kicks on his strobes, & starts looking for a place to turn around as he enters a curve. Coming out of the curve, he realizes what the guy in the truck meant: directly in the middle of the road is the largest pig he has ever seen.

Moral: danged if I know, but I thought it was funny!

So...would the sheriff get to keep the pork chops?

Depends on the jurisdiction.

Here he'd have to reimburse the rancher for killing livestock on the roadway.

He could reach up it's backside and pull out a hot ham samich...
