After looking at that several times, I think the kids may have set it up to happen that way....

Look at how calmly the blond kid immediately goes down and slides to a a gap in the bookcase with no books...

I really get the impression he knew that was coming.

Unlike squirrels being lured to an instrument of torture with food, brides have a choice of whether they want to be catapulted or not. I'm guessing most would just choose to throw a bouquet, but there's no accounting for taste...
