TWAIN HARTE (CBS13) – A man took an unusual retaliatory step for his neighbor’s constant gospel music, countering song with sin.
“I decided to watch the porn on the back deck,” said the Twain Harte man, who didn’t want to give his name.
The man also didn’t want to show his face but was willing to tell CBS13 his story Tuesday, saying he moved his big-screen TV out on his deck Sunday evening and turned up the volume on a porno flick – all aimed at getting back at his neighbors.
“Just to kind of give them a taste of offensive play there, just a little payback,” he said.
But why a little payback? It turns out they play a lot of gospel music. That’s right, gospel music, and he can’t stand it.
“One day it went on for 12 hours and my dog was howling and it was bad,” he said.
But another neighbor said he’s not bothered at all by the music.
“No, it doesn’t,” Dave Kamps said. “I love it. I love it.”
The small little cul-de-sac is nestled away in the Twain Harte hills and both homes are quite close together, so it wouldn’t be hard to hear either the gospel music or the groans from the movie.
The accused gospel lovers weren’t home for us to get their side of the story, but Tuolumne County deputies say the neighbors called the department to complain and even showed the responding deputy a video of the porno playing in the neighbor’s backyard.
Did the man really think playing porn was the best way to up the ante against gospel music?
“Yeah, like I said, not the best choice, but you know what are you going to do?” he said.
“I think that was a little ridiculous,” Twain Harte resident Tara Varela said. “He shouldn’t have just played porn like that. He could have played, like I said, death metal. Anything besides that.”
We probably wouldn’t be telling the story if he had just played death metal music loudly. But blasting an X-rated movie just to make a point? Well, that definitely caught our attention.
“After all the commotion, I probably wouldn’t have done it,” he said.
The man says he won’t be living at the home much longer. So far, he’s not facing any charges for his backyard movie selection.

Wow.
I thought most people liked gospel music, or at least didn't have an opinion on it. I have never heard of someone hating it before.
it's probably a good thing they weren't cricket lovers. Game commentary drives the uninitiated insane.

I call bullshit Gob. You have a very eclectic [to be generous] taste in music. For you to make such a generalized statement is unbecoming.Gob wrote:I HATE gospel music with a passion....

I'm not going to be the first to jump on a band wagon of say Stryper a heavy metal Christian band;however I would not throw out the baby with the bath water and among others that do not hurt the ears and or the sensibilities I would recommend Matthew Ward Fade to White.

I've never heard a Gospel song I didn't like...
Back on active duty, I had a BEQ nieghbor who sang Gospel quite well, and I recall hearing her practicing through the walls. She was so good that later she was asked to sing the National Anthem for a unit ceremony. It was interesting and amusing to hear her version of the Star Spangled Banner, done with Gospel intonation.

Re: A cure for gospel music...
Strop, have you ever heard a really kick ass gospel choir perform live?
We've got a great one here in San Fran at Glide Memorial Church...
The church was founded by a left wing preacher....
Never thought much of his sermons, but I've been to their services a few times over the years, (most recently I took Tati about six months ago,) and man, that choir can sing.....
I'd have to believe that even a heathen like yourself would have to be impressed with the energy and passion....
All that time dragging on endlessly, hour after hour, with nothing happening worth mentioning....
That's an awful lot of dead air time to fill....
I'm surprised they don't wind up reading recipes and singing sea shanties....
Anything to fill up the time and try to keep the audience awake....(and keep themselves awake too...I imagine amphetamine addiction must be a huge occupational problem amongst cricket game announcers...)

It must be extremely challenging to be a TV cricket game announcer...it's probably a good thing they weren't cricket lovers. Game commentary drives the uninitiated insane.

Yep, I have, and so not as to tread on Timsters delicate sensibilities again, (
As for my being a heathen? I was raised on this;
