"concern that the man could have went over the cliffs on his mobility scooter", Jesus, only in a Cornish newspaper.....An elderly man who went missing on a mobility scooter in Land's End sparking a huge search operation was discovered more than 23 miles away in Camborne.
A search operation involving lifeboats, coastguards and the police got underway at Land’s End last night after a man in his 70's was reported missing.
The holidaymaker, who is staying at a campsite near the south west attraction, failed to return to the site prompting his family to call in the emergency services.
Both Sennen Lifeboats were launched to search around the shore, while Land’s End Coastguard team conducted a search of the surrounding area.
A police helicopter was also scrambled to the scene just after 9pm.
A spokesman for Falmouth Coastguard said there was a concern that the man could have went over the cliffs on his mobility scooter.
When an initial search proved fruitless, emergency response teams were baffled to find out the man had turned up at a hotel in Camborne- more than 23 miles away.
It is believed he travelled along the A30 on his mobility scooter.
He was discovered unharmed.
