I was about 1/2 hour from finishing up plowing out the driveway on tuesday and the motor on my tractor died. First it lost all power, then I heard a "clunk" from the engine and then it stopped running. I checked the oil and it was full. Checked the sparkplug and cleaned out hte air cleaner and it started up again but died when I throttled down. When I tried starting it again it would not start but the flywheel was cranking faster than ever like it had no compression. Took out the compression tester and sure enough no compression. Squirted some oil in the cylinder and still no compression. I'm thinking a valve broke or got stuck. Probably the exhaust valve. Something else to fix. It has over head valves and hopefully it will be righ there rather than having to take the whole engine apart. I do have to fix the tractor so I can cut the grass this summer. It is 19 years old.
But the good news is my wife told me to go buy a snowblower. wooo hooo, you know a boy and his toys Just ordered it last night and it should be here middle of next week. Nobody had any snowblowers left in the stores. Not in time for mondays storm but for any future storms I'll be ready.
