Do they work? are they easy to use? any reccomended brands?

Quick answer; "Yes , but..."

More often than not they are overpriced and no more efficient than stuff which can be bought at your local hardware store.

I use Brasso for mine, and a soft cloth.

Any scratches which cannot be got out with Brasso and a cloth are too deep to ever be got out without erasing the disc.

On one CD anyway. the 2nd didn't work though it really didn't look scratched in the first place

Hmm...gotta try this. I do NOT want to drop $30 buying four CD's I don';t need to replace the one I do need.

Jarl, apply Brasso with a clean soft cloth, leave to dry, rub off from the centre outwards.

Circular scratches are the worse, radial scratches not so bad
