I had a couple of the 70's types in tyco (HO scale?) slot cars. or was it aurora, or maybe AFX???
I think I still have them in the basement. The track is long gone, but my pit-stop case held all my cars (and spare parts) and I remember seeing it while searching for something in the far corners (aka crawl space) of the basement.
