Viable the opposite of OBSO_FUCKING_LETE.

He also ignores the existance of at least two new models that are rear engine namly the Fiat 500 and the Smart ForTwo

Please explain, in detail, EXACTLY why a boxer engine is a poor design. Be specific.

Other carmakers do not use them simply for reasons of PACKAGING! Simply: a boxer engine, especially a dual overhead cam boxer is, for the displacement, very WIDE. The same fact makes them impractical in most motorcycles (though I vaguely recall BMW using an air-cooled 650cc boxer twin until about fifteen years ago).

I was under the impression those were mid-engine cars, with the engine slightly ahead of the rear wheels.

Wow, this is fun -- usually when Dave gets schooled on the facts he doesn't stick around and keep arguing -- somebody pass me the popcorn

I love the 911 because it is a beautiful car and fun to drive in the right environment. Perhaps some day I'll own one, although a Boxter is probably more likely.

Best part: the 928 will take a fire-breathing 6 litre LS engine! 600HP, no problem! 1000HP (on stock internals!) not all that difficult. 1500HP and daily-driver reliability is doable.

Marston Mile, anyone? :D

Porsche was my dream car as a teenager, and I was lucky enough to get a chance to drive one once - a 928 belonging to the father of a young man I dated in college.

The Boxster is a beautiful car, but the interior is tight. Not a comfortable fit for a person of any size; I tend to think of them as cars for the beautiful people.

Personally, I don’t believe in bros before hoes, or hoes before bros. There needs to be a balance. A homie-hoe-stasis, if you will.

By all means, they even make the cars with the steering wheel on the WRONG SIDE. :nana

Let's see...of all the cars introduced by Porsche since the 911...

924, 928, 844, 968, Boxter, Cayman, Cayenne, Panamera,

NONE has had a rear engine.

NONE has had an opposed (boxer) engine.

NONE has been air cooled.

But of course, the 914 - that sterling example of Porsche's forward-looking technology - had an air-cooled boxer engine (two of them, actually).

Gee, maybe Porsche thinks the 911 design is obsolete, too.

The Boxster's name is a portmanteau of the word "boxer", referring to the vehicle's horizontally opposed or "boxer" engine, and the word "roadster", referring to the vehicle's two-seat capacity and convertible top
