I like to take my MC along the the north fork of LI. It's nice and quiet out there. Glad you had a good time.Guinevere wrote:We spent a weekend touring the LI vineyards for my 40th birthday. It was lovely!oldr_n_wsr wrote:We have vinyards on long island. Mostly on the north fork of the island.
I am as big a wine drinker now as I was in the past.
Which wineries did you vist? Duck walk? Pinot? I forget the names of the rest.
Did you get to visit Greenport?

I'd love to take a bike on a long tour out here, that would be a fine way to spend time. Long open empty roads etc.
I just don't like cruising bikes, so would never have the inclination to fork out $$$$ on one.

We took the ferry from New London CT to Orient Point and stayed around Greenport in a lovely inn. I can't remember the names of the wineries any more -- there are so many!oldr_n_wsr wrote:I like to take my MC along the the north fork of LI. It's nice and quiet out there. (right thread now)
The Townsend Manor Inn perhaps?
I put my buddy up in the Townsend Inn when I took him to the hospital in Greenport when he was into about a month of 24/7 drinking and he couldn't take it anymore. The hospitals detox unit wouldn't admit him until he was detoxing (he had drunk about a quart right before I took him there). He stayed in that in til the next day when they finally admitted him.
that was early May and he's been sober since. I pick him up for meetings just about every night.
Gob
They have the crotch rockets around here. My son has one. And one doesn't have to spend a lot of money on a touring bike. I paid $4k for my Vulcan 500 in 2008. Brand new and that was walkaway cost, after taxes and prep and stuff.

O-n-W, my last ride, the one I got hit off, was one of these. Great to ride, but not comfortable enough for more than 300 km trips.
