My wife got me a cell phone with a camera and all the bells and whistles. I traded her for the one that is the model T of phones. I can answer it if it rings and make a call if necessary. We still have a land line that I can make long distance local calls, through the cable, I can even call Australia and talk for as long as I wish for only a minimum fee for overseas connection.

I also think answering machines are just wonderful. :ok

I agree with you, Miles.
My kids bought me a great little phone for my birthday. It's a 'touch' phone and apparently you can store and listen to music, go on the internet, take pictures and videos, and do all sorts of really whizz-bang things on it. I use it to ring people, or to answer calls when people ring me. My children are cheering my small technological advancement because I am starting to do text messages every now and then (but I do full spelling and sentences and don't do the shortcut stuff), but that's about as far as I get.
And I still like having a plain old ordinary home phone (landline).
:)

PS (edited in...) And I'm with you and oldr-n-wsr - I love answering machines .... I never pick up the landline until I hear who it is. If I'm busy I'll call the person back later when it's convenient for me - I'm not 'ruled' by the phone. And the added bonus is that I never get bothered by those sales people that seem to bug everyone else. They hang up as soon as they register it's an answering machine. :ok

My son does that - every individual song has the album cover. He does it manually. He says it takes a bit of mucking around to set it all up for all the songs but he reckons it's worth it.

That would be awesome!!!
My kids gave me an ipod the other day (a hand me down 'cos one of them got something else) and have been offering to put music on it for me. I didn't think I'd use it, but if you can have the song clips that would be pretty cool.

And Iron Maiden is awesome - I'd definitely have them on any music list I was playing!!

Hi Mr oldr man

I've been really really really busy - mainly work, unfortunately! But I'm starting to try to get back to my some of my happy habits from past times, like looking in at the forums as a 'wind down' in the evenings. The downside nowadays is I'm usually too tired to post nowadays - don't seem to have the same energy I used to have!! Grrr to getting older .... I want to be young and stupid again!!!!! :D

It's sooo great to see you posting again :ty:

Let us know when you get to ZZ Top :)
