IS YOUR CAR SAFE? Does it have an unfixed recall?

Post by MGMcAnick »

Find out here: https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin/ Feed it your VIN, and you'll know if you're driving a ticking time bomb.

I found out my 2010 Chrysler 300 is subject to the Takata airbag recall today. The local dealer has the parts, but the earliest appointment is next Wednesday.

You're lucky...some Takata airbags are going to take YEARS befre they can be replaced. (There simply aren't any replacements.)

VIN: KNAFU4A23A5046817
Year: 2010 Make: Kia Model: FORTE EX AUTO
Number of Open Recalls: 0 (I guess that's safe, no?)

Going on 7 years now, my car has been very, very good to me.

There are replacements for most models the problem is logistics. Getting the replacements where they are needed and taking the time to replace them. That being said if you don't live in someplace very humid you don't have much to worry about. Especially if you are under the expanded recalls.

If you haven't heard of you have a 2001-2003 Honda or Acura (certain models) DO NOT DRIVE unless it's straight to the dealer

I have a potential computer error related to my side curtain airbags. Needs reprogramming. I guess I'll make an appt for next week.

I put in my vehicle's VIN and got a response that said,

"The 'Cash for Clunkers' program has expired, but in your case we'll make an exception."

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

Yeah, I work with someone that has a 2001 Accord. So...how do you suggest he get to work for the 3-5 MONTHS it will take to get the damn car fixed?
