Dramatic footage of an AH-64D Apache helicopter crashing into the sea.

On Sept. 20, at around 0900AM LT a Greek Army Apache helicopter crashed into the Aegean
The AH-64D helicopter crashed for reasons unknown in the waters of the Strimonikos Gulf near Asprovalta, in northern Greece while taking part in SARISA 2016 exercise.
The footage shows the helicopter crashing into the sea and capsizing.  Fortunately, both crew members escaped safely.
The helicopter is believed to belong to either the 1st or 2nd Battalion of Attack Helicopters from Volos, central Greece.
This the third loss of D-model out of 12 initially procured by the Greek Army.

It's been a rough week for whirlybirds.  Here's what's left of another one down in Australia, after a run-in with a cow....

The cow involved in the incident escaped harm.
Other than the total loss of the helicopter the pilot had no beef.

Cousin by marriage is contemplating the purchase of a R44 , for His needs it would be perfect .I believe His reasoning is that it doesnt need an airstrip, His current pride and Joy(a newish 182)needs close to a 1000 ft ,to get airborne. This ship has the STOL package,it climbs like an Angel heading home .He used to fly an L-19 (that His Dad owned ) He said it climbed better then the Skylane , but we were comparing specs ,the "Birddog " was much lighter (basically an aluminum kayak with wings-scariest plane ride I ever had in my life,in that thing on a windy February day )( No we werent recreating "The Battle of the Bulge "
Like my feet on the ground ,these days . ( puking emoticon )
