This time he flew his Aviat 200 over a passenger jet that was waiting to take off from John Wayne/Orange County airport. That's not the weird part. He was lined up to land on a taxiway, not the runway he was cleared to land on.

All of Ford's planes are registered to a corporation he has set up to shield himself from liability should he happen to land in the middle of a airliner on the ground...

In his defense, many times an incoming plane may be cleared to land directly over another plane that has been told to "taxi into position and hold". That position is ON the active runway. They don't have to tell a pilot to land over a plane on a taxiway because the landing plane is not supposed to be landing there.

Time for gramps to hand in his wings (and prolly his CDL, too).

No one was hurt, and there was no damage. That's why the FAA calls it an incident, not an accident. It will be interesting to see whether he loses his license not at all, for a while, or permanently. Usually, in incidents like this, it's like a 30 to 90 day suspension with a requirement for some dual time with a certified flight instructor. He probably knows more than a lot of CFIs

Mr. Ford made the local paper a few weeks ago when he was in town. It was assumed that he was having his Cessna Citation worked on, or perhaps taking some recurrent classes with the Flight Safety Company, or both. He was seen at several restaurants, none of them considered high priced. He likes Mexican food.

When he bought his Cessna Caravan several years ago, several of the people who helped build it were on hand. He was interested in meeting some of them. As he went out to the new plane to leave, they started yelling "Start the plane. Start the plane! START THE PLANE!" He was laughing, very hard, but didn't run. No one was chasing him.

It turns out Harrison Ford got no punishment for his incident. I'm not surprised. My guess is, if it had been you or me, we'd at least have gotten a slap on the wrist.

All that experience flying the Millennium Falcon, and he screws up flying an Aviat taildragger. He must really be embarrassed.

Yes, but handling a spinner is even more impressive.
