One of the most fascinating mysteries of my life. I've also been following the TIGHAR investigations and they have some interesting theories and evidence as well. http://tighar.org

Unless the History Channel is hiding the bombshell evidence, I don't think the photo is enough to convince me without some significant remaining doubts --- but I would love to be convinced otherwise.

A lot of speculation with little evidence.

I heard the producer of an upcoming (already came?) TV show about the new evidence and the thought that came to my mind was, "Why does anybody care about this anymore?" I have a theory. She crashed landed on Noah's Ark.

They both died on a remote Pacific atoll.

The show is on History Channel and airing Sunday night.

Well, there you have it. Proof positive... case closed.

And if you look even closer you will easily recognize Judge Crater and Jimmy Hoffa in that boat near the dock.

TIGHAR says no:
http://tighar.org/Projects/Earhart/Arch ... Photo.html

Some excerpts from the page above....
What's wrong with this picture?

Plenty. TIGHAR has had this photo for more than year. It is alleged to show Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan in Japanese custody. The ship in the background is said to be the Japanese survey ship Koshu towing a barge carrying Earhart’s Lockheed Electra.

Analyzing the photo was not difficult.

If this is Earhart and Noonan in Japanese custody, where are the Japanese? The six other people in the photo appear to be Micronesian. No one is wearing a uniform or carrying a weapon. No one appears to be guarding anyone. This is a photo of eight people hanging out on a dock.

We immediately noticed that the person sitting on the dock, represented as being Earhart, has too much hair. Also, the person is wearing a white shirt. Amelia wore a dark, long-sleeved shirt on the flight from Lae, New Guinea. The man standing off to the left does not look like Fred Noonan and is dressed in white. In all of the photos taken during the world flight, including boarding the plane in Lae, Noonan is wearing a dark shirt and dark slacks.

They conclude (with some smack directed at the History channel) that the photo is much hullabaloo about nothing, and some jiggering had to be done to even make it "fit." National Geographic is a partner with TIGHAR, and I believe they are a more credible organization. They continue to work at their theory, and believe Amelia and Fred died on Gardner Island (now Nikumaroro). They have had several expeditions to the island, and just left their last expedition Friday. This time they brought four cadaver dogs to the island to check for human remains/bones/ and the dogs indicated remains -- although no bones have been found. They are taking dirt samples to test for DNA. The work they are doing is painstaking, expensive, and fascinating. They have a great Facebook page where they post regular updates, if anyone is interested in following along.

I've got the DVR set for it on Sunday night. Maybe we'll know more on Monday.

Who goes to the History Channel for facts anymore?

Are you implying that Bigfoot isn't real and we aren't descendants of ancient aliens? Next thing you're gonna say is that Pawn Stars is staged.

Regarding Amelia, the person I heard on the radio that was pushing this new theory said that bones were discovered that they thought were Amelia's but they mysteriously disappeared.

Just when you know they had solid proof, it disappeared. Who could have predicted that?

People who owned and flew Lockheed Electras said there was no way they could have reached the Marshall Islands.

Sasquatch is real. I work with him. (Seriously: the dude is 6'8", about 370lbs, and wears size 18EEEE boots.)

Proof that Bigfoot is smart. There's no better place for a legend to hide than in plain sight. Especially someone who's never had a clear picture taken of his face when he's seen in the woods.

Her bones have been found in a suitcase in the lost luggage room at the Atlanta airport. They identified the bones by the stamped metal label on the case that said "Emilia Earhart"

Anyone who watched Star Trek: Voyager knows that Earhart was one of 300 humans carried off by an alien race who put them to work as slaves until they revolted and established a thriving human settlement in the Delta Quadrant.

Now I have to find two hours to watch the recording. or should I just skip the last 15 minutes? My guess is TIGHAR has better facts, maybe not even alternate facts.

I remember reading a kid's-variety book about her when I was in about the 5th grade. That was only 25 years or so after her disappearance. Not quite current news, but more current than today. I've always been intrigued by the whole thing.

I remember when a local missionary pilot was lost somewhere in the Philippines. His family asked for donations to continue the search. That was way before go-fund-me. I was more gainfully employed, and mailed them a check. If I were lost, I'd want someone looking for me. AFAIK, he was never found.

Seriously. Their lineup is headed by Pawn Stars (get it, heh heh), American Pickers, Mountain Men, Big Rig Bounty Hunters, Ancient Aliens, Forged in Fire, etc. The channel has as much to do with "history" as MTV has to do with music.
