I saw a LHD Vauxhall on the road here today

A modern one? They do make them in LHD for mainland Europe.

I don't know that I've EVER seen a Vauxhall of any vintage.

I did see a RHD MG-F in Yellowstone park in 2000. It had British tags. The owner said he brought it into Canada to tour there and in the US, but had to sign paperwork stating that he would be taking it back to England before its special 90 day permit expired. No US emissions or safety standards approval.

There's a dude in Massachusetts who has a RHD Jaguar.

And a couple of RHD London Taxis in Waltham, MA.

The US Postal Service has had (and still has) quite a few RHD vehicles. Seeing a RHD vehicle (British, Japanese, or other) in the US is quite a bit more common than seeing a recent-vintage Vauxhall, (or Citroen, Lancia, Opel, Skoda, Holden...) in the US.

Is it that you saw a Vauxhall in the U.S. or that it was LHD, or both making for a rare sighting? I can't recall ever seeing one here in the U.S. Rented one in England/Scotland for a week and a half years ago and liked it.

Silly question, and I have no reason for asking other than pure curiosity, but do you need a special validation/endorsement on your license (like you do to operate a motorcycle) to drive an RHD vehicle?

In the USA, maybe. However, most of my family live in Sheffield and Manchester where it's not necessary.

No special license for RWD in the US, anywhere I know. Plenty of RWD subarus and mail trucks.

In many rural postal areas Subaru RHD vehicles are used so USPS subcontractor can make the swift completion of their appointed rounds.

Not sure they still do, but Jeep offered a RHD Wrangler for many years.

Many trash and recycling trucks are also sort of RHD, in that they have dual controls.
