Year? Color? Manual shift?

PS, I would be so tempted to speed up and down 93 through the whole of greater Boston in that car while traffic is nearly absent - at night would be best & prettiest. Get a speeding ticket, even. ;)

Black 2013 SRT8 Core, 6-speed. Rip-roaring 6.4 litre engine.

Still managed 23MPG driving it home from North Carolina, though. Pretty good for a 4100lb car with 480HP.

From our old buddy "Bones" (Steven Lang) at Cafe Dartre:
"When's the best time to buy a car?"

"Tuesday!"

"What do you mean Tuesday?"

"I mean THIS Tuesday!"

"Explain yourself."

"Okay here's the reality. Late model vehicles are going for about 10% to 25% less than their typical wholesale prices because of the lockdowns and overall fears related to COVID-19."

"Well, I know that. What else?"

"A not so small army of dealers just had their floorplans pulled out from under them. A floorplan is a basket of funding that allows dealers to buy vehicles and then hold them for a certain period of time; usually sixty to ninety days. Those funding sources have largely disappeared."

"Wow! That's rough. Anything else?"

"The slugfest that was Carmax, Carvana and some of the larger dealer networks competing against each other has largely subsided. All of them have either reduced or eliminated their buying of 2016 and newer vehicles altogether."

"Sounds like a buyer's market. But why Tuesday?"

"Because every single publicly traded company has their end-of-quarter forecasts that they want to meet. At the wholesale dealer auctions, you usually have the best deals during the last week of March, June, September, and December."

"So this Tuesday really is the best time?"

"I would say it's been the best since the Cash for Clunkers debacle back in 2009, and that was only for a few folks who owned a gas guzzler. This time it's for everyone. The 2019 Kia Rio you see here was a certified pre-owned Kia which includes an extended warranty. It has onl;y 14k and usually goes for $11,200. Yesterday it sold for only $8900.

"And no dealer fees?"

"You got it!"
(Also too.)

I would not have bought it if it had a sunroof.

Does it have the "go fast" racing stripes, too?

No stripes on the SRT Core. (That pic is not a Core.) The only thing that distinguishes it from a V6 or R/T model is a small "SRT8" badge on the back, the SRT wheels, and the big Brembo brakes. The Core model deletes most of the add-ons that the regular SRT gets...no sunroof, fog lights, leather, Harmon-Kardon stereo, navigation, or (the only thing I miss) HID lights.

Those are nifty cars until you need repairs. A friend has three of them she uses to escort oversized loads. The last foreign object encounter left her with a $1,700 bill.

One of the parts, the fuel pump, is not available from the factory.

Horse shit. A Mopar pump is $110, Rock Auto has it in stock. Auto Zone lists Spectra and Delphi pumps, in stock.

She has the dealer do all of the maintenance on all three of her Challengers no matter what. One just cost the insurance company $7,000 to fix when it was hit from behind. The dealer fixed it.

The dealer is also fixing the damage from the gator that trashed the underside including the gas tank. It was the dealer that couldn't find an OEM pump. Instead they went with an aftermarket. The woman won't accept anything but Mopar parts including windshields. I'll ask her which year got nailed.

What year is yours?

I was having trouble understanding this conversation until Mr Google helped me to uncover the fact that Mopar is 'Parts, service and customer care organization within Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.' I've had two Fiats (both 127s) and a Hillman Hunter (Hillman is was UK Chrysler, now part of Peugeot) but never a Chrysler vehicle.

I like learning new stuff and I do a lot of that here.

It's not my own personal preference/taste in vehicles (which tends more toward vans and 4WD vehicles), but I envy you anyway. Have fun with it, Jarl!
