I dropped a key somewhere between a car's radiator and headlight the other day. Unfortunately keys are usually brass, and therefor non-magnetic. I wound up having to remove the grille and loosen the top of the bumper cover to see the TIP of the key. Mechanical fingers refused to grasp it, but did succeed in knocking to the ground. An umbrella would have gotten in the way of the project I was working on, but I like the idea.
