Jeep!

Post by Jarlaxle »

Got it today, replacing my Caprice wagon...1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4x4. It's not as basic as I wanted (has cloth seats, carpet, and automatic transmission), but still a base model with crank windows, manual locks, no sunroof, and steel wheels. Liz iz a tad peeved...she had a Cherokee and loved it, put over 200,000 miles on it.

I (unexpectedly) love my Jeep 4x4 and its basic body shape. It will go anywhere in any weather. Of course, I also love the leather heated seats , great sound system, satellite radio, nd sunroof that were part of my requirements when I bought it. And the cherry red color, of course!

Jeeps are OK, never been a big fan, but since I rolled my 74 Bronco a few years ago, I may eventually get one. But my wife loves the 4Runner and I must admit it's pretty nice.

I think I need to replace the spare tire. It's a Goodyear Wrangler with maybe half the tread. Unfortunately, it is also...

Rock-hard.
The wrong size (215/75R15, Jeep currently wears 225/75R15's and will get 30x9.50R15's)
Badly scuffed.

I think it might be one of the ORIGINAL tires! DOT code is "306", which says it was made the 30th week of 1996!

Is that a Grand Cherokee? But leather and a sunroof, yuck.

And I lost one of my wheel center caps this past week. DAGNABBIT! :arg

Nope its the boxy, smaller Patriot that looks like the old Cherokee sport. This is my first hard top vehicle since 1996 - a sunroof was a requirement so I don't get total closterphobia. And I like leather seats.

I didn't realize you could get leather & all that other stuff on the Patriot. (Of course, my having no interest in the Patriot might be the reason.)

If you like open-air so much, why not a Wrangler? :)

I wanted more cargo space than the Wrangler, but not so much as the Grand Cherokee (nor did I want the price tag).

Four Kedge Grip tires on order from Treadwright...unfortunately, too late for the snowstorm today. :( The tires on there (225/75R15 American Prospector SUV) are awful in snow.

Did a full brake job a couple weeks ago...pads & rotors in front, shoes, drums, all hardware, & wheel cylinders (bleeders frozen) in back. It stops much better now!

Turned 196,000 miles yesterday.
