What a lot of 'revenue' and taxpayers money being wasted because of mindless and idiotic vandalism.

I don't always follow speed limits, and I've had a few tickets in my time and been caught by a speed camera here and there - and I cop it sweet, even if the camera was in a silly place because .... I wouldn't have got the fine if I wasn 't going over the speed limit in the first place.
Even if I think the speed limit is silly, even if I was only 'just' over - the law says where there is a speed limit I can't go over it, and so if I do, I'm breaking the law. And the roads are clearly signposted with what the speed limit is. And if I get caught breaking the law, I wear the punishment.

The whole 'revenue raising' argument is just plain ridiculous.
Logically, they would not be able to 'raise revenue' from speed cameras if people weren't speeding.
So how about putting the responsibility and the 'blame' back on the motorist.
Here's a more long term way of dealing with it. If you want to rob them of the revenue - don't speed. Then no money will be made from the speed cameras, it won't be worth their while putting them in everywhere, and they'll have to focus on some other way to either raise money or keep the roads safe, or both.

And particularly in an area where there's a fixed camera - you may get caught once if you're going above the limit, didn't know the road, so didn't know there was a camera there - but the bottom line is you were above the limit, so you cop it.
But then you're a major idiot if you get caught on the same speed camera in the same location more than once, and you're a wanker if you whinge about it, because you knew the camera was there, dickhead. If you don't slow down anywhere else on the road, slow down as you're coming up to that speed camera, so you're at the correct limit, or 5 under, going through the camera. Then if you feel the need for speed, put the the foot down again.
That would take less energy and less risk taking, and be more effective in stopping the 'revenue raising', and be less drain on the public purse, than deliberately. moronically, vandalising the camera that you obviously already know is there.

And a whole lot of pictures on the internet showing burnt out speed cameras only encourages more dickheads to do more of the same sort of idiotic, juvenile, vandalistic behaviour, and that will cause even more strain on the public purse and require the fines to be raised even more so they can keep fixing the bloody cameras. Well done, you noodle-brained backward Einsteins.

Hurrumphhh.

The more destroyed speed cameras, the better. I nwould prefer the application of explosives, but burning works just fine.

The first one that goes up around here...let's say I suspect the protective housing is insufficient when hit by a hardball slug from a good hunting rifle!

Paintballing them seems to be the done thing in Canberra.

All they have to do is clean it...a nice .44-40 slug (an elk or moose rifle) or a .22-250 (super-high-velocity long range target rifle) will require full replacement.

Well I got a ticket only yesterday. Loooong straight stretch of road, it's easy to let it get away from you a little. I was doing about 100 in an 80 zone when I saw the bugger coming around the corner towards me. He clocked me at 101 from about 300 metres away (the radar must've come into play as soon as I came into his sight as I immediately slowed down) and slapped me for $333. I can't complain though, it was a fair cop. As Alice said, you can't complain about 'revenue raising' if you are breaking the law...
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

I ditto alice on this.
