Possible screaming deal on new ride...

It's a 2010 Q-Link Commuter 250, basically a clone of a Honda Helix, for only
$500! A shop claimed it needed a motor, but the symptoms sound more like a serious vacuum leak and/or a weak fuel pump. (Many scoots have vacuum-operated fuel pumps.)

Sounds like a fuel starvation problem.
Check the fuel tank cap to see if the vent is plugged. Also check the fuel
lines and pump for any obstruction or failure.
Don't know if this was part of the problem, but you might check this.

It's acting like the idle is too low and/or it has a serious vacuum leak. I bought it!
Planning to clean out the carb & see how it runs.

...and it doesn't fit. Note to self: KBC lids run REALLY small!
