A driver whose sports car flew through the air and ploughed into the side of this house has left hospital.

Lewis Richardson, 21, was left fighting for life after the crash eight weeks ago in Lowestoft, Suffolk.

He was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge with head injuries following the incident in the early hours of March 24.

He is thought to have crashed at speed when he lost control of the red Audi TT, mounted a pavement, tore through a hedge and over two cars.

Householder Paul Welham, 40, was in bed when he was woken by the impact.

Nobody in the home was injured.

Suffolk Police said Mr Richardson had been released from hospital and returned home.

His parents told the Lowestoft Journal: "Lewis is now out of hospital and on the long road to a full recovery."

He thought he was in a race, that's what happened. The house was his enemy.
