The Hatch's boyfriend's step-dad came around to collect him today. Normally he drives a Prado, tonight he came around in his "hobby car". One of these;
Cadillac Brougham; "d'Elegance". 5 litre.
I told you there was a bad case of American in the family, didn't I?

Nice. Not the big motor, (needs the 5.7 litre), but nice.
Technically, I believe that would be a Cadillac
Fleetwood Brougham d'Elegance.
By the pic, it's a 1987-90.

Just paying for gas for that thing would set one back more than a few dollars.
Other than sloppy handling, poor braking and sub par assembly quality.......looks like a decent ride.

Sorry Jarl, that's not his car, I just grabbed a lookalike image off the net. His is a white one. Immaculately restored.

With a FI engine (350 or 305), 20+MPG is no problem. The B-bodies seemed to be screwed together pretty well, even when little else was.

The car is exactly what it was intended to be, and does what it was intended to do, remarkably well.
Whining about its handling and/or braking is like complaining that Jennifer Anniston probably couldn't run very fast.

I do, I like to drive well and prefer sharp handling cars.
I like to know that the brakes will not fade after repeated use while driving on a twisty mountain road.
If you want to cruise down the interstate with the cruise control set to 66mph in some luxo-barge while in the passing lane be my guest.

The brakes on those are actually pretty good. Note: the CHP used the EXACT SAME BRAKES on their 130+MPH 9C1 pursuit Caprices!
