Harvard Prof. Seeks 'Adventurous' Woman to Birth Neanderthal

Post by liberty »

Agree with this guy they are us. I have seen people that appear to have to have some of the characteristics. And what is this attitude about Neanderthal anyway; just because something looks different doesn’t make it inferior? The three human races are quite different in appearance but are all still human and so I believe where the Neanderthals:

lol..I would argue that the race did not go extinct.

A Harvard professor wants to clone a Neanderthal in a bid to increase genetic diversity, a bulwark against a biological "monoculture," reports LiveScience. In fact the professor in question, Dr. George Church, even took an ad out for "extremely adventurous female human" to serve as a surrogate mother for our closely related hominid.

"We can clone all kinds of mammals, so it's very likely that we could clone a human," said Church to German newspaper Der Spiegel. "Why shouldn't we be able to do so?"

But some of Church's peers in the scientific community are a little less enthusiastic about the prospect of attempting to bring the distant past into the present. They're concerned not only about the health impact on the surrogate mother - or mothers, as the cloning process would likely "require dozens of women" - but the physical well-being of the hypothetical Neanderthal infant.

"Setting aside the ethical issues behind creating the lone survivor of an extinct human species, doomed to be a freak under the microscope of celebrity...clones often experience a host of health problems, said Alex Knapp of Forbes.

I expected to be placed in an air force combat position such as security police, forward air control, pararescue or E.O.D. I would have liked dog handler. I had heard about the dog Nemo and was highly impressed. “SFB” is sad I didn’t end up in E.O.D.

You are implying that because Neanderthals looked different they would have been non-human or of lower intelligence; how would we know that? They may have had a more primitive culture but that does not mean that they were necessarily of a lower of intelligence. We have primitive cultures today do those people have less intelligence.

And there is this; what does it say of our intelligence?

NEW YORK (AP) — A prominent genetics expert from Harvard Medical School says he is not looking for a woman to bear a Neanderthal baby. Not even an adventurous one.

Some press reports in the past few days suggest Harvard's George Church is supporting the idea of creating a Neanderthal and even looking for an "adventurous" woman for the project.

Church says those reports are based on misunderstandings of an interview he gave the German magazine Der Spiegel. Church said the idea gets a brief mention as a theoretical possibility in his recent book.

Scientists have recovered DNA from Neanderthal fossils. Making a Neanderthal baby would start with putting that DNA into human stem cells.

Church says such a process would face ethical questions.

It often occurs to me that he somehow obtained a driver's license and is out on the road somewhere.

Dale, you are part Neanderthal or at least you have some Neanderthal genes. I am of course assuming you are white or at least Caucasian; Chineseoids also have the genes but not to the same extent as the peoples to the west of the mountains. The only people who don’t have Neanderthal ancestry are black Africans, for the most part.
