IF THE MOON WERE ONLY 1 PIXEL
A TEDIOUSLY ACCURATE SCALE MODEL OF THE SOLAR SYSTEM

This might give you just a leeeetle bit of a sense of perspective. 8-)

Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.
You are amazing God
All powerful, untameable,
Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim
You are amazing God
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Into this wilde Abyss,
The Womb of nature and perhaps her Grave,
Of neither Sea, nor Shore, nor Air, nor Fire,
But all these in their pregnant causes mixt
Confus'dly, and which thus must ever fight,
Unless th' Almighty Maker them ordain
His dark materials to create more Worlds,
Into this wilde Abyss the warie fiend
Stood on the brink of Hell and look'd a while,
Pondering his Voyage; for no narrow frith
He had to cross.

Or...should this go into the "Philosophy and Religion" forum? ;)

Thanks, Econoline.

Now I can see the big picture. If I start to feel as though I've accomplished something, I will stop and remember how insignificant I actually am and nothing I ever do has any meaning if I view it in the proper perspective.

I made it to somewhere beyond Uranus when my phone died.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

Turns out there is actually a reason they call it "space."

Saw a double rainbow on the drive into work today. Of course everyone else on the road did also and I think more than a few needed to stop and look at it. They should have pulled over to the shoulder.

Nonononono, Joe. You should feel joyous and exhilarated by the message that that linked website holds.

No matter how empty your life, no matter how devoid of content your posts, no matter how vacant your soul...compared to the incredibly vast amount of empty space in our little solar system (let alone the unimaginably more vast nothingness of our galaxy or of the whole universe), you and your puny little posts can never possibly be anything more than half-vast. :nana

Total Perspective Vortex produces a virtual reality model of the entire universe by means of the axiom that any piece of matter is affected by all other matter. The Vortex reconstructs the universe through computer processing of a high-resolution scan ("extrapolated matter analysis") of a piece of fairy cake. In the words of the Hitchhiker's Guide,

...since every piece of matter in the Universe is in someway affected by every other piece of matter in the Universe, it is in theory possible to extrapolate the whole of creation - every Galaxy, every sun, every planet, their orbits, their composition, and their economic and social history from, say, one small piece of fairy cake.

Only Gob is reported to have survived the Vortex unscathed. When it showed him the "You Are Here" marker,Gob correctly interpreted the Vortex as simply telling him that he was the most important being in the universe. This is due to the fact that he entered the Vortex in an artificial universe, which had been specially created for his benefit (thus making him the most important being in it) by Econoline. After emerging from the artificial universe's Total Perspective Vortex, Gob ate the piece of fairy cake, saying "If I told you how much I needed this, I wouldn't have time to eat it.
