Netbooks are pretty useless for anything other than surfing the net, very underpowered. Not good for stuff like word processing etc.

In the tier3 world (personal use devices) the distinction has blurred to basically: what fits in my purse.
marketing wise, the tier 3 world has moved to the 'phone' (ipad, pod whatever people are carrying around) as more and more people use smart phones for their minimal authoring.
processing power wise: anything from intel or motorolla is lumped into the same category. this envelopes all of T3 and most of T2. with increased use of Java and the penalty the JVM brings, the best oracle server is not much more than the worst refurb desktop at hhgregg when 'online'.
stick with a laptop, disable most of the addons from IE8+ and you will be fine.
(or get a new z196 and do all the 'laptop' processing for everyone in your city.....)
