...tons of bees in the clover today. all sorts. tons of varying sizes of small bees, and one kinda blueish and black striped one about 2/3 the size of a honey bee. they all have the basic honeybee form tho.

plenty of honeybees too...

have not seen honeybees in a few days now. perhaps they were from a commercial hive and have been moved, perhaps they are all dead. perhaps the grass is greener elsewhere. either way the lawn is mowed and their precious clover is gone. all gone I tell you.

I've seen both.
And on a side note, we paught parsely plants the other day and one came with a black swallowtail caterpillar on it already. It's big and should cocoon in the next few days. Also saw a black swallowtail butterfly flittering about the past few days so hopefully we have eggs on the parsely too.

My neighbor had one go cocoon in the fall last year and it finally emerged last week. It was good to see it survived the winter.

There are a lot of bumble & honey bees here. The ones you have now probably came from California and no doubt some of them are illegal and originally from Mexico.

It takes a while for them to get to the eastern states. They have to go north and get into the jet stream.

I think it depends a great deal on your native flora, I've seen tons of bees this spring but I'm working outdoors as a horticulturist and surrounded by bee-attracting plantings. Got many great photos, I'll upload some later today.
