I D I D I T ! !
After more than fifty years of getting my television entertainment through a cable coming out of the wall, today I took the drastic step of cutting the cord. My fiancée, bless her east-Texas heart, gave me a Roku streaming stick — just like she uses — which I finally got around to activating over the weekend.
And after seeing what I can watch with it, this morning I called Spectrum and told the person at the other end to disconnect my television service. I did stay with them for internet, and took advantage of a 1-year promo for 300 mbps internet plus one line of mobile service (which I didn't really need, but I had a usable phone lying around) that turned out to be cheaper than the 100 mbps stand-alone internet. which means my payments to this company will drop by almost eighty bucks... unless I load up with extra-charge apps or streaming services like Netflix or Peacock or Paramount+.
She's gonna be so proud of me for finally moving into modern times!!!
