Bluetooth speakers

I'm in the market for a Bluetooth speaker to use with my iPhone - I listen to NPR a lot, the reception isn't terrific in north central Montana, but the online streaming is excellent. The speaker on the iPhone is 'meh' and I don't want to use a dock, because I might want to be using the phone elsewhere to browse the web, etc.
Anyone have one & have any recommendations?

One thing worth remembering if you are moving around BSG, iphone bluetooth has a nominal range of 10m which will give a practical range of 7-8m before the audio starts clipping.
That being said, I've used
these speakers and they're pretty good for the money.

I have a cozy cottage - so that should cover me for the whole first floor. What about Bluetooth range through walls? Or do you have to have an unobstructed line of 'sight' between devices?
I must admit, I haven't a clue how it works.

That's a very 'cosy' cottage indeed BSG. So long as you realise that the range is about the length of 4 men lying head to toe...
Bluetooth through walls is an iffy one. It doesn't necessarily need line of sight but the range is drastically reduced with obstruction.
Have you considered a little DC speaker with a belt clip?

I'd be placing the speaker at a point in the living room that is about the center of the first floor. I keep all the doors open, as it's just me & the pooch. I think that will work? I'll let you know!

I've just been experimenting with a pair of bluetooth headphones and my iphone. I was getting about 6m away before it started dropping out. Through a wall (next to an open door) there was no signal.
