Has anyone ever used Rosetta Stone Spanish language program? Would you recommend it; is it worth the expense?

Can't comment on the Spanish course but Brahms did their Welsh course and I borrowed his login a couple of times to do a few modules myself. Brahms says he found it useful in so far as it helps with pronunciation and expands your vocabulary however for him it was only really useful as a foundation for going on a traditional language course in his case he did an intensive residential course at Cardiff University. Brahms says if you are paying for it and expect to be able to speak a language at the end of the course you would be better off looking for a local college offering day/evening classes, if you just want a bit of vocabulary and to know how to pronounce things then Rosetta is fine.

My experience was that it served as a useful "reminder" of vocab I already knew from school days and daily exposure to Welsh TV but I got bored with the repetition very quickly and stopped bothering.

My brother learned Spanish with Rosetta and did very well. He even appeared on one of their commercials. The Rosseta people even paid for a trip to Spain, hotel & meals included, and filmed a second commercial there.

So it does work for some people.

Around here the Hispanics watch cartoons in English and do very well.

I suppose you could do the same if you found a Spanish station.

From a friend of mine who is in the process of learning conversational Spanish, and then moving on to business Spanish:

From my little experience with it it seemed to work thoughI had a problem with my computers mike losing calibration (this was exaserbated by my computer being close to the mater intake duct to my HVAC) but you must be able to set the time aside to do it.
