to hate a piece of software as much as I hate i-tunes.
Surely the worse piece of shit ever commuted to binary?

It used to be brilliant.
The last couple of versions have been lacking.
We are kind of commited to it with having over 1TB of music, movies and games on it. And being an all Apple household it's kind if hard to move off it.

What Daisy said. I've hated the last few versions but there is no good alternative. I don't understand how something goes from making perfect sense to being annoying.

Yeah the latest iTunes interface is lacking. On a related note does anyone know how to remove a podcast? I can turn off the subscription remove downloads etc but I can't get rid of the freaking icon

What is this "iTunes" you speak of hating so much?

From Buzz Feed:
iTunes has long held the record for being perhaps the worst piece of software with an Apple logo on it. First it got bloated, then it got slow, then it got more bloated still, as function after function was tacked on this single piece of software: jukebox, video player, music store, app store, book store, device sync, digital hub, etc., etc., etc. If there is a piece of software that would run like shit on a supercomputer, it'd be iTunes.
Never used itunes, why should I?
I have all the vinyl, reel-to-reel tapes and cassettes I'll ever need.

That's one of my gripes too.
Also, after loading it with music, I have a file with 458 songs in it, mostly from complete CDs, labelled "unknown tracks", with the artist, album, and genre actually listed on them
Audiobooks, I rip loads of these, and despite going though the tedious "get info" routine to manually label them as such, they still end up scattered throughout the "music" files.
I've deleted it, I'm going to try an alternative.
I've tried media monkey, it's just as shite.

It works you there's a field you have to fill out tho (even if you just ad a space and delete it)

You mean you threw out your 8-tracks?

No I traded them all to friend when I decided to go cassette in my car instead of 8-track.
I actually had an 8-track recorder that I used to record from my LP's to listen to in the car. Why spend money on both records and 8-tracks?
When cassettes came along in the early 1970's with better sound and longer recording time it was a no-brainer.

After I nearly burned down the garage (see thread in hardware forum) this weekend I was cleaning up the mess and came across a box of old cassette tapes I made in the late 70's. Gotta see if they still play.
