We don't need any oil workers though...
Similarly, some of the highest per capita incomes in the US are in the counties surrounding Washington, DC.

As for the rankings, I'm surprised DC ranks higher than Boston, that has not been my experience.

NYC is only 7th?
While I don't live in NYC, the suburbs of NYC are highly influenced by the city. Many many people live out here (or other outlying areas) but work in the city. High(er) NYC wages cause everything out here to cost more.

I am surprised Philadelphia ranked so high (tied with Chicago at index no. 144). I have always found this area (and Baltimore, which didn't make the top 50) to be a bargain in terms of housing and food costs.

While I did not go to the article (work computer block) I would have to see the formula they used to come up with their ranking.

Oh c'mon, it was fun music! The 70s channel is one of my Sirius pre-sets. Along with the 80s, E-Street radio, the Met, the Coffee House, Spectrum, and the NPR channel.

Well different strokes... Actually, I do like some 70s music (especailly the later new wave music), but I avoid any 70s channels because I can't stand any of the disco. Does Sirius 70s include a lot of that?

Disco sucks (did back then, still does) :ok
CBGB's back then rocked. Saw the Ramones, Patty Smith, Blondie (before they turned disco) the Clash. All good times.

I listen mainly to First Wave and Lithium. with Classic Vynil and aonther classic rock station that I cant recall at the moment. (Classic Rewind?) our local NPR (Michigan Radio) far exceeds NPR on Sirius.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

I like Classic Vinyl and Classic Rewind as well.

I listen to my local NPR station all the time. I mostly use the Sirius version when I'm traveling, especially on weekends, and have missed the shows I enjoy or can't get the station to tune in on regualr FM radio.

I refuse to pay for radio (aka sirius).
I can get WFAN from here to Boston to DC and almost to Scranton.

Except the FAN isn't radio, its torture!

I didn't expect to like Sirius as much as I did. I got a free year with the Jeep, and it got me good and hooked. I couldn't give it up at that point, especially for the price (a couple of starbucks lattes a month).

Well, it was the highest-ranked American city--9 places above the next-highest (San Francisco).
