The murderous cunt speaks
Re: The murderous cunt speaks
Or maybe Kercher walked into a burglary at the empty flat after a night out with friends, and was murdered by Rudy Guede, the individual whose DNA was all over the crime scene and Kercher's body (and not in 'trace' amounts) and who was later apprehended on a train in Germany following the crime. And maybe, as he's stated to a fellow inmate, he had an accomplice who remains free. And maybe, as he's stated, Knox and Sollecito had nothing to do with it. Guede's story, in which he admits being at the crime scene during the murder, supposedly on a 'first date' with Kercher, but maintains he was taking a crap while some shadowy assailant murdered Kercher, is truly bizarre and IMHO points to guilt and attempt at explaining away masses of physical evidence.
It's a far more logical and plausible explanation than that Knox and Sollecito tortured and killed Kercher in some twisted sex game. The prosecution's case was fantastical. The physical evidence against Knox and Sollecito was highly flawed.
Honestly, I think the public is so warped by the media as to be more readily willing to believe a fantastical explanation for a crime than that which is just generic and run-of-the-mill.
This case, among many others, is a reason for video-taping of suspect statements. In all cases. Period.

Re: The murderous cunt speaks
A burglary was impossible. No forced entry at the door, no way someone could have gained access to the apartment through the broken window as someone clearly wanted to make it appear (by breaking it from the inside after ransacking the room, because the glass was on top of room contents that had been strewn around).
There is no question that Guede was involved, and there is also no question that he did not do it alone. And is his story any less bizarre than Knox's original story, where she claims to have been lying stoned on the sofa while Patrick Luumba was murdering Kercher and she was holding her hands over her ears to block out the screams? That doesn't point to guilt? Ma fammi il piacere...Guede's story, in which he admits being at the crime scene during the murder, supposedly on a 'first date' with Kercher, but maintains he was taking a crap while some shadowy assailant murdered Kercher, is truly bizarre and IMHO points to guilt

Scooter, I find the circumstances of Knox's questioning at the hands of law enforcement highly suspect. False confessions, especially of young people, are not at all uncommon - especially under such circumstances. That, coupled with the reasonable doubt created by the mishandling of forensic evidence and the inconsistencies of eyewitness testimony (the heroin addict) leads me to believe the verdict on appeal was a just result.
I don't doubt the sincerity of your position, either.

Oh, I definitely think with the tossing of a lot of the DNA evidence that there is plenty of reasonable doubt, and that in that sense the appeal verdict was just. But I still think she did it, because it's the only scenario that fits the totality of the evidence. But I recognize that arriving at her by process of elimination isn't enough to sustain a conviction.

If she did do it, then it's terribly sad that law enforcement didn't do a proper job of collecting the evidence and documenting her admissions/confession.
eta: This is an interesting piece on the case, written while Knox was still on trial:

After Scooter first started this thread, I did quite a bit of reading and research about it. The single thing I found most troubling was the information about the prior misconduct of the prosecutor, who was involved in the interrogation of Knox. This editorial discusses that issue to some extent.
Anyway, it's done. The prosecution may appeal, but even if they win, I doubt Knox would be extradited to Italy to stand trial again. Whatever the truth, her life will never be what it was - and that's something.

A translation of the sentencing report from the original trial (warning - it's 400 pages - one thing the judges on the case cannot be accused of is a failure to painstakingly review the evidence presented)

Now where have I heard that before? Just because I occasionally listen t Savage does not make me some kind of conservative clone. I really don't care for savage's program all that much. I listen primarily because he is the only thing on. The only program worse than savage's is Art Bell's coast to coast. That crap keeps my eyes balls in a constant roll.liberty wrote:Scooter wrote:The fact that we agree on this one issue (if indeed we do, I have not seen any statement by Savage on the Knox case which would lead me to believe this to be the case) hardly makes Michael Savage and me "two of a kind". Amanda Knox has hired a top lawyer and literary agent to help her sign a book deal, a spokesman for the family says.
Washington DC-based Robert Barnett will represent her in talks with publishers.
He has helped broker book deals for US Presidents Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and George W Bush, as well as former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
The 24-year-old was cleared in October of killing her roommate, British student Meredith Kercher, in Perugia, Italy, in 2007.
Knox, who served four years of a 26-year sentence, has not granted any interviews since returning to her hometown of Seattle, in Washington state.
Mr Barnett is a high-powered attorney and behind-the-scenes operator who also negotiated former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's contract with Fox News.
He will speak for Knox during negotiations with publishers and help her evaluate other opportunities, according to Knox family spokesman Dave Marriott.
Experts say she could land a seven-figure book deal for her story

Not the least bit surprising.
Certainly, she has had an interesting couple of years that many, many people will want to read about. It has been very smart of her to avoid doing interviews; it will surely help sales of the book.
I rather think it will do better than OJSimpson's book.

I don't see her doing many book-signings either. Even if they could get enough security, that still couldn't stop folks from spitting on her.
Re: The murderous cunt speaks
Let's just say, she would have to plan her book signings very carefully, in venues that were likely to be friendly.
Don't forget:
(1) she is a fairly attractive young woman, and
(2) most of the U.S. press coverage of her case was on the order of, "Here's an innocent American schoolgirl who got screwed by the crazy Italian justice system!" After watching the "60 Minutes" segment, that was the impression I had.

Re: The murderous cunt speaks
Amanda Knox, the young American cleared of murdering her British housemate Meredith Kercher in 2007 in the Italian city of Perugia, has signed a book deal with HarperCollins.
The book publisher said the 24-year-old will "give a full and unflinching account" of both her arrest and trial.
The deal is reportedly worth $4m (£2.5m) for world rights and is tentatively scheduled for early 2013.
Ms Knox was cleared in October of killing Miss Kercher, of south London.
An appeal court overturned her conviction and that of her former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, who had also been found guilty of murder, after doubts were raised about the gathering of DNA evidence.
Italian prosecutors, however, have launched an appeal against the acquittals.

Re: The murderous cunt speaks
The prosecution appealed her acquittal to the Supreme Court of Cassation. Given some of the bizarre conclusions reached by the appeals court, they have a good chance of success. She'd be best not to be counting her chickens yet.

...and just as Scoot predicted...
ITALY'S highest criminal court has overturned the acquittal of Amanda Knox in the slaying of her British roommate and ordered a new trial.

I believe she will stay in the USA.
Re: The murderous cunt speaks
I don't blame her. The narrative thought up by the police/ prosecution is less convincing than Scientology.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.
Re: The murderous cunt speaks
I agree; I don't know US extradition law but, unless she can be compelled to return to Italy, I can't see it in her interest to do so. She'll probably have to avoid any travel to EU countries, and look into the laws of any other countries she might travel to (lest she end up like Polanski having to fight extradition there), but otherwise she would probably have little problem. If she's really interested, she might be able try and have the case addressed when the tabloid hysteria dies down (of course Polanski thought that as well and it didn't work out).

Re: The murderous cunt speaks
I am guessing Italy does not have a double jeapardy law?
Re: The murderous cunt speaks
Except that I don't think double jeopardy would apply even in the United States. She was convicted at her initial trial, that conviction was overturned on appeal, now the decision of the appeal court was thrown out and a new trial ordered.
