We do indeed have sales taxes here in Big Wonderful Wyoming. The state sales tax is, I believe, 4%. Municipalities have the option of adding another percentage point or two. There is no state income tax on individuals or corporate income tax. The state budget is funded by mineral severance taxes, which are taxes paid on minerals leaving the state. More federal dollars come into the state than are paid into the federal tax system by residents, but what do you want? Would you rather drive on a poorly maintained federal highway when you come here on vacation?

No. But I would rather that Wyomingans admit that they suck more up from the federal government than they contribute to it -- which is to say, of course, thay they suck money from the States that contribute more than they take -- and shut the fuck up with all that "self-reliance" bullshit.
