Bloody hell thats worth every penny of whatever it costs. We've had one move paid for by the RAF where the movers packed for us but they certainly didn't clean and dust it all before packing it, nor did they unpack the other end, however it was astonishingly fast and so much easier than any other move we've had.

I'm still recovering from moving ourselves into this house last August - and the garage is still floor to ceiling jam packed full of boxes we haven't yet unpacked.
If you can keep your head while those around you are losing theirs, you may have misjudged the situation.

I wonder if anything like that is available anywhere in the US.

And hugely expensive. Have you looked at the prices? Just moving domestically can cost between $5k and $20K (contingent upon distance and weight) easily. Can't even feature the cost internationally. Sell and buy what you need when you get there would cost less I could think.

Well I would say that you did it without benefit of a service such as the topic here.

I have moved several times without benefit of "movers". One calls in all favors from friends with trucks.

I can't imagine Hen and Strop can do that from Oz to the UK. It could cost an arm and a leg plus the rest of the body.

We'll probably hire a 20' container, and just pack that and ship. Cost between $6,000-$9,000.

Worth every cent, I hate moving.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Last time I moved, I rounded up everyone I knew with a truck...I recall I had half a dozen pickups, a Suburban, and two vans, in addition to my pickup and Liz using her father's truck. We got everything...including the solid-hardwood bedroom set and my metal office-type desk. The scary part: I've moved a bigger bedroom set! :(

Last time I moved it cost me nearly $300 to move 30kms. The time before that I moved half way around the world with only that which I could carry. :)
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

We've moved about every way you can. From a group of friends help load the truck and you drive it (and unload it). To hiring a truck and crew to load on one end and unload on the other (very cheap and works pretty good but you have to pack). To the total professional thing where people swarm into the house and pack it all up and move it but you still have to unpack it all.

I think we're done with it and thank god for that. We're back in Santa Cruz where we belong and in a house we like, so we're done.

True. We have good friends and they've been very helpful over the years. The last move was just a few blocks from a rental to this house and they helped coordinate a lot of the 100 details. One friend is a property manager so we got a good recommendation on a roofer; the last owners were cheap and only re-did part of the roof so the rest needed fixing up. Her brother is a licensed general contractor and he ran the gas lines and vents to hook up the clothes dryer and did some minor repairs.
