Modern Britain

The Queen has led the nation in remembering service personnel killed during conflicts, as Remembrance Sunday services were held around the UK.

A two-minute silence was observed before the monarch laid a wreath at the Cenotaph in central London.

Events have been held across the UK and abroad, including in Afghanistan where Prince Harry joined troops in Kandahar and laid a wreath with them.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the start of World War One.

It is also 70 years since the D-Day landings, and the year Britain ended its combat role in Afghanistan after 13 years of fighting.

Prime Minister David Cameron said the anniversaries made the commemorations "particularly poignant".

British man Kabir Ahmed is reported to have died while carrying out a suicide bombing in Iraq.

The Foreign Office has said it was "aware of reports of the death of a British national in Iraq".

There has been no confirmation of the death of Ahmed, also known as Abu Sammyh Al Brittani, who is from Derby.

Islamic State (IS) militants named him as being among the bombers who killed a senior Iraqi police official in Baiji, north of Baghdad.

The attack took place on Friday when a truck packed with explosives was driven into the convoy of Lt Gen Faisal Malik Zamel, who was inspecting forces in the town.

He was killed along with seven other police officers and 15 people who were wounded.

So. Not all sad news then?
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts
