Freedom is worth dying and killing for (preposition). I was once was young and was more than willing to do my part of both at a time when many of my own country men were saying things like, communism is just another of form democracy and Stalin was a great man. But now I am old and it is up to young men to do the killing and dying, but I still say freedom is worth it.

And say I the French got the government that they deserve; if they don’t like what happened perhaps they should vote for a government that will control their borders. Among other things, I doubt that the terrorist bought those weapons in France at their local gun store.

Soon, I’ll post my farewell message. The end is starting to get close. There are many misconceptions about me, and before I go, to live with my ancestors on the steppes, I want to set the record straight.

This is a lie. What country has the largest Muslim population in the world? How did it get that way?

I know the answers (without goggling), but pretty sure the question wasn't directed at me.

(I know the first, anyway and am pretty sure about the second)

I knew (1) Indonesia but had no clue about (2) how come?

Wiki has this FWIW:
It was initially believed that Islam penetrated Indonesian society in a largely peaceful way, and from the 14th century to the end of the 19th century the archipelago saw almost no organised Muslim missionary activity.[7] This claim is then contradicted by Ali Mughayat Syah who started military campaigns to dominate the northern part of Sumatra and submitted the people to Islam and later findings of scholars that some parts of Java, i.e. Sundanese West Java and the kingdom of Majapahit on East Java was conquered by Javanese Muslims. The Hindu-Buddhist Sunda Kingdom of Pajajaran was conquered by Muslim conquest in the 16th century, while the Muslim-coastal and Hindu-Buddhist-interior part of East Java was often at war
So er.... by the sword then? :shrug
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Unfortunately the sword is spreading among the Muslims. Their silence belies what they really hope will happen and I cannot support any religion the subjugates my gender, which is essence means I do not support any religion.

If you think Muslims as a whole are not out to undermine you or anyone who is not Muslim I think you are naive.

I don't necessarily agree that a well planned attack means they had help.
Well in the case of the Boston Bombing, we know that Speed Bump spent an extensive amount of time among Islamic radicals in Chechnya, so it's certainly logical to assume that he received some training while he was there...(though we'll never know for sure, since Speed Bump has gone to meet his 72 virgins...)

However in this case in Paris it appears that what we've got is the first example of the nightmare scenario of people with Western passports going over for training in Syria and then returning to launch terrorist attacks:
The brothers were born in Paris of Algerian descent. Cherif was sentenced to three years in prison on terrorism charges in May 2008. Both brothers returned from Syria this summer.

I don't think anything you write applies only to Islam. Lord knows, lots and lots of Christians want to subjugate our gender as well. Maybe in ways that appear to be more subtle than some Islamic rules, but its every bit as concerning. Same with the Hindu religion. And the fundie Jews (Hassids) as well. Maybe not so much the Buddhists, but I admit to knowing less about their specific doctrine.

As for silence -- I've heard plenty of outrage from French Muslims, religious and secular. Some very good interviews on NPR this morning.

I live in a town with the biggest Mosque in North America, the local high school has a Muslim Club. While we don't have anyone radical running the streets I have not heard one peep from the population condemning this. And they should be, in huge numbers.

The older I get the more I have come to believe that religion was invented by men to keep women in line as it were. I am more than a rib.

sue, I suggest that you do a bit of studying and find out more about the history of the spread of islam and how its spread is supposed to be done, as the Koran teaches.

I could tell you, but you would retain the info better if you learned it on your own

fear of the sword is the same as the sword......

That was a brilliant sketch. :ok Daily Show :ok

Wish I could see how The Colbert Report would've handled it.

Geezus:
Paris shooting updates / Armed man takes at least five hostages in Paris-area kosher grocery

France's anti-terrorism prosecutor says a shooting and hostage-taking attack is underway at a kosher market on the eastern edge of Paris. A police official said there are multiple hostages and wounded at the scene.

The French president ordered the country's top security official to the scene, an official in the presidency told The Associated Press. The police official declined to be named when discussing the unfolding situation.

The events near Paris' Porte de Vincennes took place as two suspects in a newspaper terror attack were cornered with a hostage inside a printing house on Friday, after they hijacked a car and police followed them to a village near Paris' main airport.

This looks REALLY bad...it's not a coincidence that this is a kosher market...

Police name two suspects linked to second siege

The police have named two suspects wanted in connection with the second siege at a kosher supermarket in eastern Paris.

They are Amedy Coulibaly and Hayat Boumeddiene.

Police did not specify whether both were at the scene.

AFP and BFM TV are both reporting two dead in the incident, writes Jon Henley in Paris.

One of suspects is said to be 32 years old, with a long criminal record for thefts drug-related offences, and implicated in the same criminal investigation as Cherif Kouachi. The attacker is reported to have told police “you know who I am” in an apparent reference to Thursday’s shooting of a policewoman.
http://www.theguardian.com/world/live/2 ... ve-updates

It's beginning to look like these two (who probably also killed the police officer; that attack was carried out by a pair in the same sort of garb as the magazine office attack) may have been involved in a cell with the other idiots who are now holed up at the print shop...

Hopefully there will not be a third shoe to drop...

ETA:

I'm beginning to think that I may have been wrong about the original pair having no plan for where they were going to go after the shooting...

I'm thinking now that they may have had a plan to go to ground somewhere prior to launching a new attack, but that when one of the morons left his ID in their abandoned getaway car and they knew they would be identified, they decided to hit the road...

yes big sky, and I m not condemning all muslims, for the 5th time.

I worked in the one of the best steel shops in the country. it grew to be multi state and multi national by the time I left.

it is owned by a Chinese father and son, who may or may not be spies. we did quite a bit of military work.

the chief engineer and office manager were muslim. also thru the years, there were serbians, a nepali, a Mexican and other Chinese people in the office.

in the shop, I worked with many Chinese, many Hondurans, many blacks, a few Cubans, a Peruvian, a guy from Ecuador and I m sure that I m forgetting some races , nationalities and/or religions.

amazing what you ll find in a little hog holler...

and I should add all the muslim pricks in the convenience stores, who put the dirty books right out front for the kids to see, and who are constantly being arrested for various crimes.

oh, and after 911 the fbi tore apart a local diner, literally. it is about a quarter mile from my house and was involved with some of the highjackers somehow.

I'm wondering if the two carrying out the second assault at the market are going to demand that the other two be allowed to get away...
