OCD and me
OCD and me
If I'm dialing a phone number, I will not attempt it until I have the number memorised and can do it without checking.
I will never read the preface to a book until after I've read the first chapter.
I always fire off two shots of any photo I'm taking.
Anyone else got any ??

Re: OCD and me
Don't know if it counts but I always (nightly) re-arrange any dirty cutlery/dishes in the dishwasher that my wife put in there before I turn the machine 'on'. I forgive her because I figure she's never seen it in the early morning (I empty it) to know better.
I also cannot stand to see the tops off the salt and pepper pot or a napkin (serviette) cast aside without being folded. When my wife's cooking, if she makes the mistake of allowing me near, I begin to clean up all the kitchen tools - sometimes she's still holding 'em.
OTOH I don't care about making beds, my clothes can occupy the floor in the bedroom, my car's not exactly the cleanest (inside or out) although I draw the line at garbage in it - no no never! My books - highest on the left to the shortest on the right but there is the paperback exception.... the last book must not be falling/folding over on itself.
My wife is sure I'm OCD - must be. I keep coming here and actually read Gob's blog more than once

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts
Re: OCD and me
You're confusing OCD and masochism.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

Re: OCD and me
Why not? Gob confused that taking two photo thing with OCD when it's sadism

It's only sadism when he posts them .....

Re: OCD and me
Gob--I have the same thing with phone numbers; in fact I've never saved a number to my cell phone because I think it might interfere with my remembering it.
Your point of photography is along the lines of something I did as well--I usually bracket my shots with different f stops, making me take at least three images of most things I shoot (and I still use film a lot of the time, making it a lot more expensive).

Nice fenceposts, but none look particularly comfortable.
Re: OCD and me
I am a door checker. Not just once but at least twice. The garage door makes @hub and me both crazy. I can't count the number of times we have left and then a mile into the journey one of us, and we switch off which one, will say, "Did we close the garage door?" necessitating a return to see if it is closed.

Common practice with photographers. Just an 'insurance shot'.Gob wrote: ...

Re: OCD and me
I have a friend who is a compulsive counter; nothing overtly visible, he just quietly counts what table we are at in a restaurant, seat in a theater, etc. It came in handy when I dropped my glasses in the movies and had to return to get them when the next movie started. He told me the row and seat number I was in and I quickly found them in the dark. Sometimes OCD has a good side.

Re: OCD and me
I am a lock checker especially house and car doors; I will check two or three times. I am neurotic about safety; I am disturbed by cooking oil left on a stove or anything flammable like cloth left close to a stove. When driving and if I feel that I drove through an area too fast, I turn around and go back and drive through the area again at the right speed.
Soon, I’ll post my farewell message. The end is starting to get close. There are many misconceptions about me, and before I go, to live with my ancestors on the steppes, I want to set the record straight.

This might be the "seek help" point.I turn around and go back and drive through the area again at the right speed.

You should not be allowed to drive.liberty wrote:When driving and if I feel that I drove through an area too fast, I turn around and go back and drive through the area again at the right speed.

Why, can one be too careful when driving through a built up area?Joe Guy wrote:You should not be allowed to drive.liberty wrote:When driving and if I feel that I drove through an area too fast, I turn around and go back and drive through the area again at the right speed.

How do you manage to be an ass and be likeable at the same time?
