I my experience this next year will be far more critical in your long term recovery than the last year has been; PLEASE don't hesitate to go back into therapy at any point when life's stresses start to wear you down. It's after the intensive outpatient ends that I've seen so many clients/defendants relapse hard.

You are always in my prayers, oldr. Wishing you all the best and knowing you will extend a hand of help to others who are facing what you have just come through, because you really are a truly decent human being.

Don't forget the Desiderata; it comforts me to read it regularly and I try to remember to do so daily (which is why it hangs in my bedroom right above my bed).
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

Thanks for hte reminder. I did have 15 months sober before my last relapse. And I will always be ready and open to return to any kind of "help" I need. I do not intend to stop going to AA meetings nor stopping the "little things" I do to keep sober.
My last relapse was at the end of a month of not doing the little things, morning and evening prayers, reading my daily reflection and Daily Bread books, writing in my journal, reaching out to others, etc. I still went to meetings but looking back there were some people who noticed some changes in me.

I am more inclined to keep my support people informed and have told them that I have "completed" and to keep me grounded.

All that and I have to add that I am scared shitless of having another drink seeing where it took me last time. Hopefully a little fear can go a long way. That and all the other things I do.

And thanks for hte concern and well wishes, I will use both.
:ok

I'm beginning to think I am cursed (not really but....). Seems many of the people who I regularly give rides to meetings have been relapsing. Another lady who I frequently give a ride too has gone out drinking and abusing her meds and is now MIA. She was coming up on a year sober in a few weeks and had asked me to speak at her anniversary. I had warned her about the "one year bugaboos". :shrug

And the lady I wrote about previously is still MIA.

I guess I am now learning how others who cared about me felt when I relpased. Not a happy feeling.

I am hoping and praying that they find their way (or are led the way), and I pray that I stay on the path.
Thanks for reading

Oldr, that's not you, that's the nature of addiction.

Stay strong
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Went on a scouting mission last night to find a new tuesday meeting now that I am done with Tuesday night group sessions. Tried a beginners meeting in East Patchogue. It didn't suck. Don't know if I would make it a regular meeting for me. There are a few other tuesday night meetings I want to check out. But of course the daughter should be going to closing on her house any day now, and then I'll be working on her house so I shouldn't get attached to a Tuesday meeting.

Other than that, all is well.

Finished getting the mc running over the weekend. The last thing I needed was a battery and I picked that up saturday and installed it. Went on the short ride and was a little apprehensive. Last time I rode I got whacked which led to the relapse. Going to ease back into riding. I'll take about an hour ride sometime this weekend keeping to backroads mostly.
Gob, you got whacked. Have you riden since?

Nope. But that's mainly due to having other priorities than buying another bike. If fortunes change I will have one.

Mine just needed some fixing. Other than a dent in the gas tank and some scuffed paint, your wouldn't know it got hit. I, and my bike, were lucky (blessed?) indeed.

How does Hen feel about you possibly getting another bike?
My wife is bugging me to get rid of it. Her father also.
Told them it's not going to happen and wait til my dad stops riding. Then I'll have two bikes.

Hen would be happy with me getting one, when the time is right.

I am soooo glad that my son got rid of his Harley.

he had two close calls, one where he hit a deer, another where he hit loose debris in a construction zone.

luckily he is a physical beast and was able to remain upright in both cases. it scared him tho, luckily...

now if I could just get him to get rid of the z-28 he traded the Harley for....

he turned 12.4 sec. in the quarter mile at the local track. now he wants a faster engine..... crap.

golly guys, I was a reckless guy who lived on adrenaline at times, but even I realized how much a motorcycle puts your fate in the hands of others and random acts of nature or man.

stay safe...., well reasonably safe.....

....nevermind. your grown ass men, do what you want....

...but be careful....... :)

Had a dream last night about an old girlfriend and a bottle of Jack Daniels. She was hiding it for me. My dad walked by and she put it in some bag she was carrying. Then I took the bag and tried to find a place to drink it. Found a bathroom at a construction site and was about to drink the bottle but went to take a piss instead.
I woke up and had to go to the bathroom. :shrug
