You've used "url" tags not "img"

trump is serious!!!!! Seriously what?

Post by Burning Petard »

Just who/what is Donald Trump? He has said (plug in almost anything). He has dominated the news cycle like nothing I have ever seen. What kind of president would he be? How would he work with state governors, congressional leaders? I only know some of his long term employees say he likes for them to refer to him as 'King'.

A writer for the American Prospect magazine, Paul Waldman, says today in a column for the Washington Post, that the news media has failed the American public on Trump. Walkman says a basic duty of the free press is to give the voter information that will enable the voter to choose a leader that will 'lead' toward a future the voter wants. And on Tump the press has no clue and does not seem able to do anything about it.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/pl ... -now-what/

as Waldman says: "It’s clear now that Donald Trump may be unique in American history — not just in his inexperience, not just in his ignorance, not just in his bombast, and not just in his crypto-fascist appeal. He’s unique in that he doesn’t care in the least about the the things that politics and government are all about, and he won’t even bother to pretend he does. I’ll confess that I don’t know where this leaves us in the media, and how we should approach his candidacy from this point forward in order to help the public understand it. But that may be the most important question we need to answer right now."

From Charlie Pierce's politics blog at Esquire:
My man Chuck Todd had He, Trump pinned. The way you know that is that He, Trump had to resort to a barefaced non-fact about how we are "the highest-taxed nation in the world." (This is not within an area code of the truth. Criminy, even PolitiFact noticed.) And what do we get for pushback? "Fair enough" and two "gotchas."

This is going to be a real crisis for elite political journalism from now until November, perhaps the deepest crisis elite political journalism has faced since the run-up to the invasion of Iraq, and that one didn't turn out well at all. The Republican Party is about to nominate an utterly truthless fellow who doesn't know how much he doesn't know and is prepared to lie his way past everything he doesn't know anyway. I'm afraid that elite political journalism is so wedded to "balance" that it is in no way prepared to cope with a post-reality candidate. (Professor Krugman shares this concern.) "Fair enough" and "gotcha" are not appropriate answers to the assertion by a candidate that he plans to heal the national economy by setting up a roulette wheel and two blackjack tables in the Department of the Treasury.

If hope is not a plan, then bluster and bombast are even less of one. Elite political journalism has a greater responsibility to the Republic than "balance" or "objectivity." This is going to be a long six months.

elite political journalism
Very humble of them to refer to themselves that way.
They have not been the "4th" branch of the government for a long time.

Ok that is a genuinely depressing quote.
Werner Herzog
“Look into the eyes of a chicken and you will see real stupidity. It is a kind of bottomless stupidity, a fiendish stupidity. They are the most horrifying, cannibalistic and nightmarish creatures in the world.”

You can replace "chicken" with "Republican" and get the same logic and the same impact.

"Greater caution is called for when dealing with a stupid person than with a malicious one..."

Of course stupidity and maliciousness are not mutually exclusive...it's quite possible for a person to be both stupid and malicious...

(see post directly above for an excellent example...)

Stupid is as stupid does ,Momma told me there are people too stupid to talk to . Its been my experience she was right ,most of my little Church group are right wingers and you should hear some of the stuff they come up with .Sure a "good " Socialist country taxes out the arse ,but the Gummint gets probably half of mine and gives me nothing in return.(ok let me have it )
