I was referring to your new movie quote...Big RR wrote:Jim--Wasn't Network nominated for best picture (and in a year where it was 1 of only 5 movies, not like now when we need more and more nominees). I think Peter Finch and Faye Dunaway also won for best actor and actress. Did it really get bad reviews?
It's one of my favorites also.
Name That Movie!

Re: Name That Movie!
Yes, I agree with your assessment then; and it's also a favorite of mine.
Re: Name That Movie!
I think that one thing we have discovered through this thread is that Jim and RR do nothing but watch movies.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.
Re: Name That Movie!
I'll admit I've spent quite a bit of my life doing that--indeed, more than I'd like to admit.
One aside; when my daughter was in college she took a modern cinema course with a professor who sought to be provocative in his selections of movies. Some were big releases (like Blue Velvet and Requiem for a Dream), some were smaller (like Badlands and Eraserhead), and some were even obscure (like the soft core porn Faster Pussycat Kill, Kill and Salo). It amazed my daughter (and him, after she told him) than not had I seen them all, but I had most in my collection. Indeed, I gave her a few titles to recommend to the professor and he enjoyed them as well (she aced the course, and got a newfound respect for my taste in movies, even though she didn't share it).

I also watch a lot of television...
I do have an interest in movies and also took several cinema courses in college...
I also have a pretty good memory so if I've seen the flick there's a fair chance I'll remember most of the major quotes from it when somebody brings one up...
ETA:
If no one gets this one by this afternoon, I'm going to go ahead and answer it...BTW, there's a clue contained in my response to Big RR about the movie:

Ooh,ooh, I got it:

Another quote which could be helpful:
Well I'm not a scientist. But I know all things begin and end in eternity.
Re: Name That Movie!
Jim--it looks like this is going to be yours. I can't believe we're the only two who saw this movie.

What am I? Chopped liver? You can at least say "no".MajGenl.Meade wrote:The Jim Carey movie..... the Truman Show?
(Re the actual answer: I know what it is now and I did see it - but how on earth do you and LJ remember so much of the damn dialog?)

Re: Name That Movie!
Sorry Meade, I missed your guess. But you are right, it is not correct.
As for how I remember the dialog--many times it just sticks with me--especially if the character saying it is memorable. FWIW, I always google any lines I post to be certain I get them correct.

Well, are you planning to actually post the answer Sunshine, or would you prefer that I do it?Re the actual answer: I know what it is now and I did see it -

Re: Name That Movie!
No, I will not post it because I looked it up
I have absolutely no recollection of any line, image or storyline of the movie concerned. It was that boring

Re: Name That Movie!
And yet another hint--this was a movie that Meade found boring. That should narrow it down considerably.
Re: Name That Movie!
Narrow it down further, narrow it down to a movie I've seen.

Could have been talking about Dodgeball

Re: Name That Movie!
As soon as Big RR verifies that I have given the correct answer, (as per the rules) I will treat you all to a quote from an even more obscure cult movie...
